This week in SuperKids we learned about helping out at home.  The students shared with some of the chores they helped with at home.  We also reviewed the different rooms in the house. In Dora, we completed Unit 1: Numbers.  I hope the students can continue practicing counting up to 50. Phrases to practice at home: Where’s mother?  She’s in the bedroom. Where’s father?  He’s in the kitchen. Where’s Toni?  She’s in the bedroom. How many?  There are 14. 10 (ten), 20 (twenty), 30 (thirty), 40 (forty), 50(fifty).  When we go, we turn off the light.

  

Week of September 22-24

We had a short week and only focused on our Dora books.  We went on an adventure with Dora to help the chicks.    We practiced numbers and helped Dora and Boots. We also learned about saving energy and to turn off the lights when we go. Phrases to practice at home: How many carrots?  There are 16. How many nuts?  There are 20. We also practiced days of the week: Today is Thursday.  Tomorrow is Friday.  Yesterday was Wednesday.

Last Saturday, we also spent time on SuperKids to make up for the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday.  We reviewed animals and students got to ask each other how they felt. This was great conversation practice. We also learned about different rooms in the house.   In Dora, we continued with counting to 20.   Students often have trouble remembering 11, 12 and will mispronounce 15.  We will continue working on proper pronunciation. We also talked about the story of the moon festival with Hou-Yi and Chang-Er.  The kids enjoyed making a lantern.  Phrases to practice at home:  Are you cold?  Are you thirsty/hot/hungry/sleepy? Yes, I am/No, I’m not.  How are you? I’m hungry. And you?  I’m hot.  And you? I’m great.  And you?   How many cookies?  There are 17. How many apples?  There are 19. How many bananas? There are 18.

This week K3 continued with numbers and counting from 10-20.  In SuperKids we focused on simple phrases in the classroom and expressing feelings.  In class we did a ask and answer format to improve conversation skills. Phrases to practice at home: There are ____ (12) apples.  There are ___(19) flowers. Are you ____ (happy)?  Yes, I am. / No, I’m not. I’m scared.  I’m hot.

Week of August 30-Sept 3
