UNIT 2 What do you like to eat?

Dear K3 Dora Parents and Students,

The students and I are excited to begin a new unit 2 all about FOOD! With the theme of "What do you like to eat?" This is a fun and familiar topic that gives K3 Dora learners many opportunities to practice speaking English while talking about foods they know and enjoy.

Our Sentence Pattern

Our main sentence pattern for this unit is:

“What do you like to eat?”
“I like to eat ______.”

Students will practice asking and answering this question while learning how to share their favorite foods with their classmates.

We will also practice polite food conversations:

“Do you want some ______?”
“Yes, please.”
“No, thank you.”

Let's Talk About Food!

Students will learn key vocabulary from their Student Practice Book, including:

vegetables • fruits • meat • pasta • rice • milk

We will also expand our vocabulary by learning examples within each category. For example:

Fruits: strawberries, apples, oranges, grapes
Vegetables: carrots, broccoli, cabbage
Other Foods: pasta, rice, meat, milk

This will help students understand that there are many different foods within each food group while giving them more words to use when speaking English.

Using the picture on page 24 of the Student Book, students will also look at a family enjoying a picnic near a river and use the picture as a guide to describe the foods they see.

Mid-Autumn Festival Fun!

To connect our English learning with a special Taiwanese tradition, we will also enjoy a Mid-Autumn Festival-themed art activity! Students will explore the delicious foods often enjoyed during this holiday, including BBQ foods and mooncakes, while creating a fun and festive art project.

Through this unit, the  goal is to help students build vocabulary, listening and speaking skills, confidence, and an enjoyment of using English in everyday situations.

I am looking forward to a fun, colorful, and delicious food adventure with K3 Dora in our Show and Tell Unit 2.

Welcome to Show and Tell with Ms. Dee

 Dear K3 Parents,

Welcome to K3 Show and Tell with Ms. Dee! I am very excited and enthusiastic to be your child’s Show and Tell English teacher this year. It is my goal to create a warm, positive, and encouraging classroom environment where every child feels comfortable, confident, and excited to learn English.

This year will be an important year of progressive learning and development as we help prepare your child for Grade 1. Throughout the year, we will work together to build the language skills, learning habits, and confidence your child will need as they prepare for the next step in their education.

Most importantly, I want every child to feel that their voice matters in our classroom. I will encourage all students to participate, try their best, and feel proud of their progress. Our Show and Tell lessons will be a positive learning environment where mistakes are a natural and important part of learning. Children will be encouraged to take risks with English without fear of making mistakes.

A key focus this year will be helping students develop the ability to respond using complete sentences. Through daily practice, gentle guidance, and plenty of opportunities to speak, students will gradually become more confident expressing their ideas and communicating in English.

I will reinforce important vocabulary and language patterns through songs, chants, stories, games, and engaging activity-based lessons connected to our Show and Tell book units. These activities will give students opportunities to listen, speak, practice, and use English in meaningful and enjoyable ways.

I look forward to helping your children grow in confidence, develop their English skills, and discover the joy of learning throughout the year. Thank you for your support and partnership as we work together to give your child a happy and successful start in K3 class.

I am looking forward to a wonderful year of learning, growing, and sharing together!

Warmly,
Ms. Dee
K3 Show and Tell English Teacher
